About the Course

What are the features of your courses?

You can take a program tailored to your English level and future goals.

ESL

This is a comprehensive basic English program to improve your English conversation skills. Beginner students who can barely speak English can also take this course.

Business

This program is designed to develop English skills that can be used in the workplace. Students can choose courses that meet their objectives, such as preparation for a working holiday, business English, or TOEIC test preparation.

IELTS

This program is designed to improve your IELTS score. In addition to our regular IELTS course, we also offer a Guaranteed Score Program, which guarantees a specific score in 12 weeks.

What makes you say that you offer a quality education?

First, let’s talk about our instructors: JIC’s hiring criteria for instructors are basically mid-career. We hire experienced instructors as immediate backbone and train them in JIC’s way so that they can provide high quality education in a short period of time. We also have strict hiring criteria. In particular, all of our IELTS instructors are highly qualified with a score of 7.5 points or higher. In addition, JIC’s R&D team has been organized to create original teaching materials for ESL, Business, and IELTS, and these original materials are used to provide effective learning.

What is the difference between Spartan and Semi-Spartan?

Both Spartan and Semi-Spartan programs allow students to go out on their own. However, students in the Spartan program must be back at school by 7:00 p.m. because of mandatory vocabulary tests and self-study. For more details, please see the program page.

Is the EOP (no mother tongue) system enforced?

We try to enforce the “no mother tongue” policy, including management and teachers. We also have a “Challenger System” in which students can win prizes if they continue to speak only English.

However, regardless of whether or not there is a native language policy, we always encourage our students to actively engage in English conversation with students of various nationalities. It is ridiculous to say that students cannot speak English because there is no native language policy. Since you are here to study abroad, we recommend that you try to be proactive regardless of whether the system is in place or not.

Do you accept juniors under the age of 18?

Yes, we accept students in the University Preparation Program (UPC), but UPC students are not allowed to mix with regular students and must study with junior students (mostly Korean) of the same age group (7~18 years old). UPC students are also subject to the following rules

∙ There is an additional fee of 20,000 pesos for care.
(*Includes one activity day trip per month and one meal out per month and other support fees)
∙ No going out except for school events.
Self-study is available in the function hall for both Korean and junior students and is always monitored.
・Phone will be confiscated when you arrive here. You will only be allowed to use your phone on weekends.

UPC accepts students as young as 8 years old.

Can I change my course or schedule?

Yes, you can change your course and schedule every two weeks after consultation with the local management. Please note that you cannot specify the instructor.

Can I add additional classes?

Yes, you can add classes for both one-on-one and group classes. Please inquire separately about the fee.

I heard that you are an official IELTS test center.

Yes, we are accredited by the IDP as an official test center. There are other official test centers in Baguio in addition to JIC, so you can take the test at other locations if there are not enough students to fill the test.
